I was confused when someone told me that lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase enzymes were produced from arachidonic acid.

I know that they both act on arachidonic acid to produce leukotrienes and prostaglandins, respectively.

However, saying that they're produced from arachidonic acid seemed false to me. Rather, arachidonic acid is their substrate.
