In between Maserati content, I thought I would post this review of the L405 Range Rover SVA!

When you are bored & fancy a trip to the West Country come on down to Somerset & do a video on my L405 SDV8.
Small wheels, clear glass, tows trailers & gets muddy & scratched.
A real Range Rover with 100k miles on it which works for a living.

Before the video : oh no, a Range Rover, I hate those ticking moneypit timebombs
After video : I want one! 😅
Man you got some talents 😜

Joel, I fully agree with you. Diesel (preferably the v8) is the right choice. Such a shame that the road tax on diesel vehicles is crazy expensive here in the Netherlands. Road tax for a 2019 v8 diesel RR is around 3900 (euro) per year!

"Joel, these Range Rover videos are absolutely fantastic. Your insights and presentation are spot on, and it's a pleasure to watch each one. Please keep up the great work, as many of us truly appreciate the effort you put into these reviews. Looking forward to seeing more!"

Really enjoyed your honesty Joel, great video to watch. Couple of points to add;

On a motorway run I’ll regularly get 26/27mpg. Not the 4, 4’s mid 30’s but still reasonable. And the diesel has the known faults of DPF issues and fuel running past the pistons and filling the sump up. Plus the 5L is LEZ/ULEZ compliant.

Secondly, a testament to its drive train. It pulled my old L200 which had a 2, 5T trailer of brick rubble attached to it out of a grass field. On those Michelin PS4 tyres. That’s impressive. I can’t think of many cars that can offer that level of versatility.

That looks better than any premium economy seat i have sat in!

Just a note: Traditionally,  electrical devices are for handling electric power whereas electronic devices are for handling information/data.
So the seats are electrically folded..not electronically.

Had one for a month on a production. Used on many different kinds of roads. Excelled at cruising down the freeway, and precious little else.

Great video! I recently considered buying an L405; they look better than ever and present astounding value for money. However, the lack of proper buttons and switches in favour of unnecessary screens really put me off. You know what I’ve gone for and I’m hoping it’ll have just the right amount of tech, without any of the novelty stuff!

Enjoyed this as it mirrored a lot of my own thoughts and experiences of these cars. I prefer the pre-facelift which uses proper buttons still and our fleet cars had the deployable steps. They were a pain in the backside though because you could smack them on a high kerb, and without fail one or both would fail to retract at some point. One of ours was stolen in London and turned up a year later in Mombasa. The 322 is the sweet spot for me though.

Love that expression “the nickable ones”

The real power comes in when you drive about 30km/h in deep sand pulling an off road caravan. With the 4.2 supercharged I have the torque is all over the spectrum.

Controversial choice taking the 4.4TDV8 over the 5SC, but I like it! (I have the 4.4 TDV8!)

Great video. I love my L405 SV Autobiography Dynamic. The ONE thing I can't stand though is the ride quality on less than perfect roads. It's atrocious. In the SVA Dynamic (short wheelbase) models like mine and the one in this review, they've stiffened the damping so much (for better handling) that on broken roads and pavement, it feels like you're riding in an oxcart with no springs. It's unbelievably bad. I was surprised that they would allow a Range Rover (renowned for its magic carpet ride) to have such a stiff suspension over bad roads. The long wheelbase SVA (non-dynamic) doesn't seem to suffer the same insufferable shock damping. I would pay anything to adjust the suspension setup, but I believe damping is computer controlled. Otherwise, these are magnificent cars that rival Bentleys in interior luxury.

I much prefer this version over the new one. To me, the new one is ‘too smooth’. Love the rear on the L405, the proper door handles and actual knobs and dials inside. The newest RRs have everything on screen now, it’s almost as spartan as a Tesla.
