At 3 minutes and already loving ALL the knob jokes 👌

I've had one of these locks for about 3 weeks now. One useful hack for multipoint locks is to add a magnet to one of the multipoint latches and then place a window sensor (may need to remove the housing) in such a way, that when you lift the handle, the reed switch is "on". This allows you to create an automation to lock the door whenever the handle is lifted (I use HA). Works really well.

the number of shafts and knobs in this video. love it

Is the keypad supported in Home Assistant? It would be really nice if you could trigger automations if you enter a certain code when entering the house.

Just a word of warning to check the Ts&Cs on your home insurance policy when fitting a smart lock. Some companies (eg Aviva in the UK) want to be notified when any changes are made to the door locking mechanism.

Integration with home assistant needs some work, shame that the hub is required for matter functionality. Also no offline matter is crazy, hope its just a bug

Do you have any recommendations for door locks in 2024 working with HASS?

For anyone watching now, HA just added bluetooth support for SwitchBot Lock Pro with 2024.7 release.

Have 3 of the original locks integrated via bluetooth proxies. Have been working extremely reliably (and responsive once I installed a proxy with antenna close by) for more than a year. Only feature missing is the the emergency unlock feature, which is only available via the switchbot app. The main benefit og the lock pro in my opinion is the design and AA batteries. Not enough for me to upgrade, at least not until it gets Home Assistant bluetooth support.

It's OK. Everyone thinks their knob is weird. ;-) Bravo, sir. Bravo!

I have the previous one, it works but... Jams every now and then - requiring to be re-calibrated, gets "unavailable" on bluetooth and matter under HA (a bit less under matter but still) so during that state you cannot control it. I hope the Pro version has those problems solved. Seems to be a good product with under-developed software.

Great review. I have one big issue with this smart lock, and that is the huge button which you said is neat to have when carrying stuff. This is sold as a Pro lock but does not offer Geofencing to disable the button when not at home, as otherwise when someone approaches the door, excited pets jumping up can open the door by jumping against the button. Also on your door it will be easy to open from outside using a hook shaped rod through the letter box. People will only know this is an option if using the keypad as this identifies its a Switchbot lock from the outside.
As Geofencing is not offered it would be great to be able to at least disable this button on a routine when at work for example to ensure it does not get opened when no one is at home. Looking forward to seeing the Aqara lock which is due to release soon.

I tried a Nuki ultion lock a few months ago. Had to return it. I think the torque wasnt enough to turn the lock. I hope this one has the extra torque. However, it doesnt list ultion as a compatible lock type. I’ve contacted switchbot to see if it’ll work

How many takes did this take, talking about your knobs and shafts (especially your sticky knob! 😅)

I'm curious about the size. On the thumbnail for this video it's right under the door handle, and looks like it would get in the way. Is that a photo you took or is it from the web? Asking as I'm worried I'd have the same issue.

Great video and product review, would like an update when HA BLE is working. Out of interest what BLE reliability issues did you see with the previous model with HA?

Love how some people are worried about their smart lock getting hacked but they have a shitty mechanical lock that can be raked open in seconds.

The best informatieve video so far! Great job - love your channel! Only thing I missed is if you need the new hub for matter integration for home assistant or will the original switchbot hub do?
