Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin are set to make competing speeches on the eve of the one-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, is due to make his delayed state of the nation speech on Tuesday, in which he is expected to set out aims for the second year of his invasion of Ukraine.

The speech, to members of both houses of parliament and to military commanders and soldiers, is due to begin at 9.00am in central Moscow. There will be no English translation.

Thankyou for posting this speech entirely in Russian with no subtitles, so that all of us here in England can understand exactly what is being said.

As I’m listening, key points from Putin’s speech:

1. NATO expansion.
2. US has most military bases in the world (“hundreds and hundreds of them”); so countries, like Russia, need to push back against US military threat.
3. Ukraine started war by bombing Donbas in 2015, against Minsk agreements.
4. Minsk agreements, as we later discovered, were not done in good faith (likely reference to Merkel admitting it was just buying time for Ukraine to get a break and get aid from the West).
5. Kiev was attempting to strike Crimea and Sevastopol. This is now all public knowledge—Kiev admits as much.
6. The US enjoys funding wars all over the place, as is evident in Ukraine.
7. “In Iraq, the US killed 900, 000 people and displaced 38 million. These are the US’s own numbers.”
8. The US’s interest in Ukraine is essentially to turn Ukraine against Russia. The US would “be willing, God forbid, to use demons against us.”
9. We are not fighting the people of Ukraine. We are fighting the people “occupying Ukraine” (likely reference to the US/West, etc).
10. The more the West/US uses Ukraine against Russia, the more Russia will respond to security threats (everybody in the audience claps here).
11. In addition, the West/US is fighting a cultural war against countries like Russia (who are more traditional) [more clapping here]. Putin also references the Holy Scriptures at this point.

I thought Putin was dying from cancer according to the Ukrainians, despite of that he is making an hour+ speech, while Biden is struggling to make 5 min speech without making some stupid mistakes.

So, the Telegraph, a news outlet with a primarily English-speaking target market, doesn't even bother to provide any kind of translation whatsoever. Doesn't that defeat the entire purpose of the video???

Minute 27:45 He says "The more long range weapons will be provided by the west, the further we will have to push away the threat to our country's borders. Obviously." Followed by applause.

Is there a translation of this in English somewhere that actually fits along of what he's actually saying?

Excellent video. The telegraph has specifically posted this entire one and a half hour long video exclusively in Russian, so that every beloved Russian person in England understands this speech. Obviously the English speaking people in England are seeing the Nicola bully TikTok sleuths in action and can’t be bothered to watch this video.

Думаю для США более удивительно не то, что говорит наш президент, а то, что президент (как Байден) вообще может говорить больше 5 минут🤣

The guy didn't had a drink throughout the speech. Still he is subtle and polite even when he blasts the west about this whole quagmire. No appearance and sound of arrogance, just saying facts.

I wish USA had a president that cares about us the way Putin cares about Russia. Also, the way he speaks, blows our clown leaders out the water.

This is not an emergency appeal by V. Putin.
According to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the President addresses the Federal Assembly with annual messages on the situation in the country, on the main directions of the domestic and foreign policy of the state.
