Did anyone notice, how all the cool new technologies presented lately either utilise organisms/natural materials or mimic/replicate them?

Covering soil around plants with thick layer of cut grass, hay, leaves, or even carton.
What it does:

1. covers ground surface protecting it from air flows and sun, which burn and dry micro-life leaving ground "empty".

2. under is constantly condensates moisture from air even in dry and sunny days, keeping ground wet and plants and micro-organisms fed.

3. prevents weeds from growing - they don't sprout without sunlight.

4. the layer gradually decomposes adding to humus.
