Billy Strings we album Highway Prayers is out this week . This young man has been the saviour of bluegrass.
He's a phenomenal guitarist as well. So between this one and the Grateful Dead Friends of the Devil box that just arrived on Tuesday my weekend is set.
Agree with you on the Thin !Izzy set. Ill just stream it for now.

Great video again, the big one for me was Chicago, this really captures them at their best just breaking through a bit more. I like all of Chicago they have some misses here and there, but I feel on their last album they recaptured some of that what some called avant Gard sound to me it’s just strong musicianship that once they lost Kath (who was probably the best guitarist ever in my opinion) they couldn’t replace or even find a guy similar who had the chops but also could sing many of their songs too. But great package all of footage is also out their on YouTube of them in the day playing early shows, my biggest wish is someone somehow finds the Elton John at the Troubadour because that is the holy grail that needs a release .

I think you’ll love that Magellan re-issue. I got the original CD years ago and it’s one of my favorites of theirs!

Great video as usual. And, thank you, Brendon, for bringing to our attention all this new music.

I can see your point regarding greatest hits/best of compilations, and assing remixes or single edits of songs instead of the original track. But if you are a casual fan of a band or just interested in finding out what a band sounds like, I prefer to have the original track presented in a compilation. I'll give you two quick examples, U2 put out a 2 part compilation of their music that includes single releases as well as B-sides; wanted to check them out because I know of the band and like most of the singles they've released over the years. However, was very disappointed when I checked the song listing and easily a third or half of the songs were remixes or edits, and decided not to get them.

Another example is a compilation by singer songwriter Gavin DeGraw. I like some of his songs and wanted to check this release to get a better feel of his repertoire, so to speak. Bought the CD and as I'm listening to it, one of his more popular songs comes on and it just felt off/didn't sound right; I had bought the mp3 of the song years ago, so listened to it again because I couldn't believe it sounded so different from what I remembered. Sure enough the mp3 was how I remembered the song's sound. Went back to the CD and noticed that the song on the comp was an alternate version/take, and was disappointed they had not included the original.
