I feel that the rope is a solid cardio workout. It's really only hard on the knees if you don't know what you're doing. Which is most people. I've been jumping rope for a decade and never had any aches or pains.

Just do skipping rope like how ot is intended for boxing training; allot a 2 or 3 minute round for it and rest for a minute (or more if you really need it) and do it for 2-3 rounds. That's actually pushing it for some people. Also a factor to consider is to protect your ankle doing this. Bounce on soft floor if possible. Wear ankle support if you need it. This really isn't something you do for half an hour.

Skipping is the same as running a 4:30“ pace (in km) which is absolutely brutal most people jog with a 6“ pace if you are a really good runner you do 5“ but anything under 5“ is high class runner and jumping rope is exactly that

When I tried skipping too much, too fast I got a pain in the ball of my foot and havent done it since.

Did a ton of jumping rope as a wrestler growing up. But always on a wrestling mat. Not really on purpose, but as wrestlers we were just generally on mats when working out. Tried to get back to it a few month ago just in training shoes on the concrete floor in my garage and my feet were killing me the next day. Literally the bones in my feet. Hurt for days after 😣

i used to do only 45mins*2 skipping sessions a day, no weight training

burned 450 cals each session
wonderful if ur motivated
nowadays i just do 15mins of running after weight training

I used to do skipping for 30 minutes but had to stop due to frailty. Low weight, joints hurt a lot. Need to bulk up for a while. My composition is great though theres teeny bits of extra dimension i can lose.

I jumprope for 10 minutes at a time, usually. Often before a run or after supper on a day where I ran in the morning.
I find the calves and ankle muscles get SO sore lmao 😂

Omg. I do approx 1 hour of skipping 3 times a week. Maybe I should be more careful.

True, I tried skipping for 30 min when I first started because I wanted to try something new and my calves were so tight the next day
