It's the abject disrespect for Tolkien and his work by people demanding respect that irks me the most. They have no shame.

I'm White and love the Chinese stories The Water Margin and Journey to the West aka Monkey. I would get annoyed if they didn't cast East Asians in the roles.

"You don't like non white people in fantasy" No, I don't like non white elves (described as the fairest of races).
"You don't like strong women" No, I don't like female dwarves adventuring (Dwarves have a 2/1 split of men to women, women are protected because they are so much rarer in society).
On a similar thing, the trailer for the new "Dungeons and Dragons movie" has line where they literally say about the white guy "So why is he here?"

The ethnic diversity of "the world as it is" or rather the 21st century urbanized First World is due to specific historical events and processes: the trans-Atlantic slave trade, exploration, exploitation, migration, etc. A mythical version of the world focused on northwest Europe thousands of years ago is not obligated to try to resemble the ethnic diversity of North American post-industrial cities. Within the hugely prolific and varied fantasy genre (which Tolkien is erroneously credited with starting - though it's more accurate to say he gave it a nudge out the door - and from which his work ought to be understood as radically different), there have been authors who have tried either to address the multicultural makeup of modern America and maybe even its roots or to portray peoples and cultures inspired by or resembling a wider lens than northwest Europe. That good fight has been taken up for decades now by many authors whose work deserves recognition and enjoyment on its own merits. The Amazon RoP showrunners are treating Tolkien's work like the fantasy genre in general, and they're acting like the past 40 years never happened and they're the first ones to try to inject black power and grrrl power into it. Dishonest, cowardly, solipsistic, arrogant and manipulative.

The original trilogy were wonderful because they honoured Tolkien and his works. They approached it with respect.

Then they made the Hobbit "trilogy" for the WRONG reasons - namely, CA$H BAYBEE. I walked out of that first movie about 40 minutes in, and I never watched the rest of it or anything else that came out. It was inauthentic, insulting and had ZERO respect for the author or his work.

Whatever it is that the woke maggots at Amazon are coming up with, it's bound to be garbage. What did the one show runner say - "we wanted to make the novel Tolkien never wrote"? Something like that. What could POSSIBLY go wrong.

Personally, I'm delighted to see all these woke ideologists continue to fail. I hope they keep on as they have done - losing their backers countless millions. Nothing they do can diminish the works of Tolkien.

The real issue is that the creators' are istaphobes and think anyone of the demographic(s) they insert where it doesn't belong naturally will automatically embrace the inert based only on the superficial aspects and they can also shield themselves with the superficial trait.

So, target demographics, how does it feel to be stereotyped and used as a meat shield by the people stereotyping you?
