So I got tired of my previous door panel clips falling out leaving my panels rattling and about to fall off. So I came up with a solution that would be permanent!! With nutserts and screws holding on my panels I will never have to worry about busting another plastic connector or one falling off!! I came up with this when I was down in Orlando FL on my trip when a ''screw'' fell out of my panel. I picked it up and thought to myself, im going to be fixing this when I get back home and ill never have to worry about it again!! Here we are...

This was absolutely brilliant. I have a 1960 El Camino and I just couldn’t find a good alternative to nice door panels other than spending over $1000 for new fabricated ones. So I had already made the panels out of pressed wood but plastic clips weren’t sturdy and would damage the panel in the event I had to remove them. This does expose the screws but I bought the exact rivets and screws and it looks beautiful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Thank you again for sharing!

I have the same tool, but dissimilar metals can cause corrosion problems like galvanic corrosion. I’d check to see which ones to avoid. But hey, worse case they may be hard to get off later, but having them tight may just be worth it.

I made Baltic Birch panels. I used your link and bought the tool. This is the solution I’ve been looking for. The shorter screws were the ticket. I think they are 16mm. I tested them on the rear hatch first and drilled smaller holes in the birch. They are bitchen! 😎😎😎👍👍👍

I like the hardened riv nut approach. I actually like that visible screw heads and have seen colored motorcycle fairing screws that I think would make a cool accent on the black ABS (which I have). Maybe "red" or "orange."

The rubber inserts probably don’t work as they’ll want to rotate freely before the start to compress and swell - ie the screw isn’t threading. If you could hold them steady while you start to screw they’d work

Dude, where is your inner door rain shield on your doors? Typically its thin plastic stuck on with byutle rubber that keeps the water off your inner door electric components. I suggest you make some for your doors.
