The engine is dead (Landcruiser 1HD-FTE)

It's dead. There's damage to 2 of the pistons and 3 of the piston rings. Compression was low when the engine was cold, and so it's time to dump money into the engine bay.

Your right, there is so little info out there, particularly in the UK and thats why its great that you are passing this stuff on. Please keep it up!

I feel for you, at least you're trying to properly sort this vehicle out with the intension to keep it for very long time, ive paid 10k for mine and i had cylinder head cracked, i probably put 8k in now and my motor is back on the road. My main problem was no one in UK wanted to take a such big job, took me 6 monthd to find someone to do the job the way i wanted it. But im still replacing old stuff with oem parts. Took a quote yesterday from toyota for injectors for my Landcruiser and thats £525 a piece. I just dont know anyone or trust anyone to rebuild my injectors or turbo 😢 no one got any knowledge about these cars in this country thats our big problem.

I've no idea how someone has managed to abuse this LC to the point of the engine being stuffed. In Aus these will do a million km before rebuild. I wonder if its been overheated at some point in the past through a leaking rad or something?

You're the only guy I've ever seen with a destroyed land cruiser engine; if that doesn't deserve a sub I don't know what does 👍

Would love a full rundown video of your story with the Landcruiser. It's actually extremely interesting to hear about a Landcruiser lemon.

Saw you selling off some of the bits on FB Marketplace (I think?) recently.

Bummer! Will be fun to have it all sorted though. Any more drifty content coming in the future?

R&M Injection Services in Armadale are brilliant for doing injectors and the fuel pump.

This is crazy I know lots of people did a 500, 000+miles with this very reliable Toyota diesel engine.! seems like the previous owner didn't change engine oil Frequently !!😡

Everyone has an opinion but nobody has the experience.
What is your take now?? Would you recommend someone to buy it? What should we watch out for?
Thank you

Just discovered your channel. Great stuff. Yeah keyboard warriors pronouncing on cars they have no personal experience of is a nightmare. Especially with Range Rovers which get a massive unfair rep (from personal experience of many owned in the family) and Mercedes w124 the other way (again from keyboard warriors) Oh yeah the w124 fantastic, never go wrong, last for million miles.... Nope! Again from experience! A mate of my parents had a G reg Land Cruiser from new one of the first 4.2 new look ones at the time and it was a total lemon. Good luck with it all :)
