Hi, my name is Kyle and I'm currently doing my doctoral mathematics degree in complex differential geometry under the supervision of Professor Gang Tian and Professor Ben Andrews.

Small mistake at the end tho....
It should be e^ix = cosx + isinx

Not a proof, just a handwave with symbols

Hey Kyle. I have a question about PDEs and just how important do you think they are for grad students. I am having some trouble self studying this topic. For one thing, I don't have much interest in physics and there are tons of physics examples. I went through several pde texts and still couldn't get motivated to learn this topic. But then I was thinking why am I even trying to learn this subject? I just thought, this is a well known and a major branch of mathematics so it's something I should learn, but if I don't plan on doing any research in this area, is it really necessary? I can see why real analysis and abstract algebra are core couress for pure math students, but what about PDE?
