The Gen 2 games really were being held together by gum, string, and a dream

20 years ago I traded myself a haunter with a ho-oh. To evolve my haunter.

I loved that haunter. Tha game crashed..and I ended up with 2 of the same ho-oh.

20 years later.. I still wished the haunter was cloned. I still miss haunter.

Would have been awesome to know this information 20 years ago

Splash instead of Beat Up gets you Mewtwo. How ironic.

Celebi was the rarest Pokemon for so many years. There was no way to obtain it outside of Japan, not even glitches had been discovered at the time

What really blows my mind here is that Beat Up was a move in gen 2. You learn something new everyday.

I remember changing boxes and my battery died. I cloned my Typhlosion into a Gloom. I was pissed

In gen 1, thanks to the Cinnabar island nickname glitch, I owned a level 142 Golbat. It took almost my entire level 100 team to weaken and catch it.

I’m happy to say that I found a cloning glitch all on my own in gold and silver as a kid. Put a pokemon in the pc, then when you save from that as soon as it says “SAVING DONT TURN OFF THE PO-“ turn it off. When you go back on you’ll have the pokemon you deposited in your party AND in the pc. With the same items, etc. fun times.

Getting Celebi on my gameboy was tricky, but worth it ^^
It’s so cute
I called them McFly

I always used the transfer glitch to clone masterballs.

Things like this would have been useful to know. Instead....a truck that did nothing

I never knew this part of the trick.
I did do cloning a lot. I once had a bugged slowbro that crashed my gane once you vieuwed the stats.
I also once tried to clone my mewtwo, but it disappaired and somehow merged with ho-oh who was in the box (merging as in stats mixed up, moves and name of ho-oh, but on a mewtwo template)

Really cloning was wild and soo much fun. It has that whimsical element to it modern pokemon games just dont have

I had a device called a monster brain that could essentially create Pokemon out of thin air, so I would research the stats and create them from thin air

I remember using giraffig to do the same. You could clone any pokémon and also the item it was holding.
