I've adopted my niece's hammy and he came with a tiny cage, wheel and barely enough shavings to cover the floor, no hide, just a piece of fleece (!!) to sleep in. Oh my goodnes ! 😢
Before I even got him, I haunted nearly every channel (and blew my over-draft!😂) to make him a new home. He's now one happy, healthy boy and living the dream !😂
He's in his 'twilight' years, and though I don't like the thought of losing him, I know he'll cross the Rainbow 🌈 stress-free, content, and peacefully. 🐹🐾

Important thing to note about paper bedding is to look at reviews online for whatever specific brand youre looking at beforehand to make sure that type isnt dusty. Otherwise dusty paper beddinf will cause respiratory issues same as with pine shavings. Every single paper bedding i have ever found was dusty crap, even those ones that say "dust free" on the bag, its a load of BS!!! Yes even big brands like the Kaytee and Petsmart and Carefresh all had this issue for me. Eventually gave up and just used aspen instead

As someone who works at a PetSmart, i agree with all these alternatives. I absolutely hate it when people buy the Tiny Tales cages, it makes the hamster look more like decoration than an actual pet
