I need help with 2013 numbers
1) 63% of the total US population (316.5 million) are white = 1, 993, 950 people
2) 40.2% of that collects food stamps = 801, 567 people
NEXT
3) 12.3% of total population are black = 389, 295 people
4) 25.7% of that collects food stamps = 100, 048

My question: what are the proportions? So is there more black people that collect or white people based on the their respective proportions?

btw... to check your work like on example 6 you can justdo .24 x 125 and if you get 30 youre correct

Its called the box method. is % This is
of 100 <----the Box Method.

The word "is" is another word for "equals". The same way the word "Of" is another word for multiply. (Not in this formula, just giving an example. The "of" is almost always the original sum.
