Christian Widener's book 'THE TEMPLE REVEALED' (Hidden in plain sight) is a 'game changer' about the true location on the temple mount, and I have studied this stuff for almost 40 years. I am half way through his book 'WITNESSING THE END' also. He posits that the 1537 AD decree date of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent could be the start point for a second 490 year countdown cycle leading up to the Second coming of Christ, and it is totally plausible (since not all the conditions of Daniel 9:24 were fulfilled at Christ's First coming). Another recently dearly departed brother called Daniel Matson also posited this second '70 x 7' period starts from this same decree, but he never found the inscriptions of the decree to rebuild the 'moat' and the 'plaza' (Daniel 9:25b) that Christian Widener has - I recall. This has been a riddle for years for many. I think the only trap here is - setting any dates... but we are told by Christ to watch pray and to know the times and seasons. I do not think we are in the Tribulation (yet) being a pre-tribulationist, but I am keeping my mind open (and I do have reservations about date setting). Christian Widener is very thorough in his research and facts (ad nauseum) which is so commendable, but then he is not dogmatic about the things we cannot be sure about. I highly recommend his logical analysis and rigour in his historical research.

We must leave before the "mark" is initiated because it changes how a person is saved. The only way to be saved at that time, is to NOT take that mark. Right now, salvation is having faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as according to the Scriptures. So, we would leave when the Gospel of Grace comes to and end.
