I had this problem, unable to open youtube URLs. Problem was fixed with updating VLC. Now I can open youtube URLs again and play the videos in VLC. 👍

There's no link because it's giving me the error on a local file, VLC is up to date, it's already allowed through the firewall (turned firewall OFF along with all virus, malware, and spyware programs, still nothing), already claimed file ownership. Tried claiming file ownership 7 times. Any other suggestions?

I still have the problem. For me, it only occurs when I try to play blu-ray discs via my extern blu-ray drive. I can play DVDs but not blu-rays. I have tried all the things in this video.

For me I can stream videos from my Windows UPnP sever to VLC on my Android and iOS phones. But does not work on my FireStick. It gives the message about MRL file error and check log. I tried everything. Even installed MX player for FireStick, but that does not allow me to browse my UPnP server. I give up on all this free apps. I think I am going with a Plex server and client for FireStick.

Hello, thanks for the help, but today 18 - 06 - 2024 nothing has worked, repeated installations and uninstalling also repeatedly, go to navigation permissions and download, nothing works I think they have disabled the VLC function of watching and downloading videos through your platform .

For me, VLC will play youtube videos that I've never played before. But if I try to play videos that I even played a few minutes of in the past, I get the error message. If I try i video i never saw, then it works.

So many wrong assumptions...
I have a stream link that is playable on vlc, but not on browser.
The same link is not playable on vlc on another system, so:
method 1 = wrong, not playable on browser means nothing
method 2 = wrong, fresh vlc install (and fresh codecs as well, to be sure)
method 3 = wrong, no windows defender (or any other defender)
method 4 = wrong, it's a stream, not file
method 5 = wrong, as it's fresh install (10 minutes old)
And the bigest fun is: link is playable on other player without any problem, but vlc still gives MRL error. Wasted 15 minut for watching and responding.

Guys, just copy paste the video to a lesser sub folders. if you have the video inside a bigger sub folder. this error is rising. thank me later
