X-Men: The Animated Series (1992-97): What Happened To This Series?

This year Marvel is returning to one of the most beloved cartoons of my childhood with the highly anticipated X-Men’ 97. Of course, I’m talking about X-Men: The Animated Series. It featured a team of outcasts who saved the world daily even though they were scorned by the world. A group of people were born with amazing powers and posed the question “of whether they were the next step in human evolution?" They were called mutants or freaks, but to many, they were called icons or legends. I am, of course, talking about The X-Men. Specifically, the animated series from the 90s was full of action and adventure. But it also taught many children about the dangers of hate and how love and acceptance are what's needed in the world. The show was massively popular, and its message was applauded. But what's the story of its origin, and why did it leave us in the first place? Let's find out in this episode of Gone But Not Forgotten.

The series is 32 years old and still a better adaptation than all the movies combined. It did Phoenix Saga, Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past, and Apocalypse so much better.

The true message of XMen is accepting people even if they have extremely unusual traits, like being Canadian.

If Margaret Loesch hadn't had such great vision for X-Men we'd have never gotten this gem of a show, and subsequently maybe not the live action films either. Thank you, Margaret!

I love the X-Men animated series. I had a huge crush on Rogue and Jean Grey. Days of Future Past and the Morlocks for my favorite story lines. I even have the comic book adaptations of the episodes.

"You should adapt the show as closely as you can to the source material, " I wish the whole comic book adaptation industry followed that belief.

I got to meet the cast of this show at Comic-Con last year. I had a lot of fun asking them question.

I remember always looking forward to waking up every Saturday morning to watch X-Men. Hearing the theme song got me hyped.

On a side note, special shout to Margaret Loesch for taking a chance and putting her job on the line to bring us the X-Men cartoon!

Growing up I never understood why the Marvel universe could accept super heroes but not mutants. What a conundrum.
