imagine the balls they had to make a blockbuster in which the main instruments were bagpipes and chains and the main singing was mongol throat singing and unintelligible chanting, and to make it work like fire

We Are House Atreides.
There Is No Call We Do Not Answer.
There Is No Faith That We Betray.

Probably the best thing about this is knowing that this music isn't just part of the OST, it's also the actual in-universe heraldic anthem of House Atreides, played to announce their arrival.

The thing that struck me the most about the song when it was played in the movie is that fundamentally, the bagpipe section is structured essentially the same as a funeral March, rather than as a proper military march or anything else.

When this song plays, it is signifying that House Atreides is marching to its death.

If the bagpipes don't come back in the second movie I'll find it perfectly reasonable but still be terribly disappointed

All I'm saying is the duke could order me into a suicide charge and I'd be like "yeah ok"

There is no DUNE video we do not dislike. There is no DUNE OST we betray. The uploader asks us to bring peace to comments. House Arthritis accepts!

Kingdom of Gondor supports House Atreides in this universe.

I really love the Celtic feel of this tune, especially in contrast to the Middle Eastern-sounding theme song of the Fremen. The contrast really drives home that the Atreides are a proud and strong, but utterly foreign culture on Arrakis.

Leto was T-posing the entire time, from the moment he regained consciousness, to the moment baron Harkonnen was curled up in a ceiling's corner.

It just came to me. Another name for Scotland was Caledonia. When the British explored the South East Pacific, they named one of the islands New Caledonia. On a different but similar topic, the Brothers Grimm in Germany discovered that the pronunciation and even the consonants in words change over time, so a planet discovered via space telescope and sleeper ships when Captain Kirk and crew would be using stardates like 2300, may have been New Caledonia, over time the 'new' was dropped and Caledonia became 'Caladan' Salesia Secondus becomes Selusa Secundus, etc.
