A note on crochet, most “crochet” pieces you will see in a store are actually machine knit replica crochet. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about that as someone who knits and crochets. On the one hand I think brands calling things that aren’t crochet crochet is not great for fashion and textile literacy, like I think it’s important to understand and be able to tell the difference between knit and crochet. On the other hand at least they’re not making people in a sweatshop crochet garments by hand. I would say, the best way to go if you want a crochet piece is to purchase from an artist and pay them for their time, yes it’s expensive, and I don’t think everyone is entitled to own crochet pieces. Or learn to crochet, it doesn’t take a lot to start off and there are plenty of free patterns and tutorials. I think in general there should be more appreciation of textile art and the work that goes into it.
