Do you think social media is affecting your life?

I can totally relate to this. Social media was putting me under such pressure. It was hell. So I took a step back and it helped me a lot. I really think it's damaging because society wants you to have social media networks and all.

I would like to bring up also how people will attack and harass people for showing the slightest signs of humanity and weakness. It’s honestly terrible whenever I see someone speak up about their problems online only to be called a fake or an attention w***e, using faulty psycho analysis stuff to justify their points. I think that is another big way that social media effects mental health that seeing all of these people get harassed for showing weakness can have a seriously negative effect on mental health.

I feel being on instagram is affecting my mental health. I constantly worry about how many likes I get on a post or how many people view my stories. I have over 200 followers but barely get ten likes on any post. Instagram reminds me how few real life friends I have because the people I follow are always out with their friends doing fun shit and I just spend all my free time alone. I feel very lonely

The human mind is wired to compare. Light-dark, tall-short, hide-seek, black-white. I don't think that's the problem. I think it's about how we deal with the comparisons. How we process that information. We may be different from someone, but we're also similar to others. Many of us don't allow ourselves to be okay with being different (or similar). In addition, we haven't been taught how to deal with failure or what we consider "failure". When we don't reach our goals or targets, we self implode, usually because neither school nor home nor social media teaches us healthy ways to deal with failure, which is an inevitable part of life.
