Generally, my money would be on the Rottweiler. They're heavier and usually a little bigger. Individually, it's entirely possible for a pit bull to get the better of a Rottweiler, but I would think that would be the exception. Rottweilers are, I think, more aggressive by nature. I love pit bulls because they may look pretty fearsome, they are in fact a wonderful sort of all-purpose breed with a generally friendly disposition! I think pit bulls are easier to train, too, because Rottweilers are a little less people-oriented. Having said all that, ultimately I like both breeds. They're very different but if handled properly they will do well both as "ordinary" family pets and as guard dogs. Ultimately the Dutch Shepherd and Belgian Malinois are much more difficult to handle in "standard" family settings than these two.
