The most secure way to join two yarns

I love this method for joining a new skein of yarn. Especially when making the Claire Bun Beanie because you can hide the knot in the middle of a puff stitch.

It’s also great for things like pillows that have an inside that’s never seen or touched. Or anything you add a lining too! Like crocheted bags :)

Nicely done. That's pretty similar to the way I've seen sutures tied (wrapped around the hemostat the way you wrapped the yarn around your finger.)

Oh, SWEET! SO glad you shared this. I will enter my 7th decade this coming March, 2025 ( Lord God above, I never thought I'd reach it, lol). I started hooking when I was about 16 -- self taught from a "How To" pamphlet that my grandmother gave me. I struggled for decades with joining yarns, as in, I DIDN'T! A few years ago, I came across the "Russian Joining"L method and have been using that ever since. Thanks to you, I will be able to omit SO much yarn waste, save time, AND save my fingers from fatigue.!

Side note: don't try it with slick yarns. It pulls apart really easily if there's no friction.
