What does he mean? The people at the PI Institute know what curiosity is and they know how to generate it. Coming from Lee Smolin, I'm sure there is real substance behind this mystery... A relational universe which has a kind of basic DNA encoding a process which generates a neverending evolution of the laws of physics? Or is it a more mondain theory which includes the measurement process? Question: Is there a beginning to the universe?

I figure humans will never comprehend the universe, really. Too many layers, probably involves concepts that could never make sense to our primitive consciousness. Can always find mathematics that provides an approximate model.

As a complete amateur cosmologist/physicist since I was about six, i.e. I enjoy reading Lee Smolin, Sean Carroll, even Lawrence Krauss et al, nobody else has captured my imagination and interest more than Lee Smolin (though I found Roberto Mangabeira Unger's part of The Singular Universe... to be tedious and repetitive, though I read it all). Looking forward to reading this.

We can have a process unfolding relative to the atoms at low temperature with the movement of charge and at high temperature we have a phase change of matter forming plasma. Therefore the same process can unfold at larger scales with charge being able to cover a large area of interstellar space in the form of plasma. It is logical that we can have a plasma based electric universe theory with an emergent process unfolding photon by photon relative to the atoms!
