I shot a missile called eryx when I was in the French foreign legion and it could go through a meter of armour or 2 meters of concrete so that a lot of protection but most anti armour missile's would still go through it.

I believe that that the Soviet union found out that the normal tanks were adequate in a nuclear environment after running extensive nuclear testing of their own tank armor.
Also, can you imagine how much fuel it would take? A logistical nightmare.

I remember this from MGS3. They developed the neutron bomb because tanks were good at surviving conventional nuclear attack.

It cant actually survive a nuke. Its meant to protect the crew from radiation, which also didnt work. So it not only looked stupid, it also was-

it's terrifying to face this tank from the front since there is literally no way to pernitrate its armor except the tiny view ports on top .
