Been a long time Chrome OS fan. After using it and then going back to Windows, Mac, or a Linux distro I quickly miss it and come back to it every time. It's so simple and snappy, its clean and out of the way. I think every computer user should use it and see if there's actually something they can't do on it. It also gets people in the good habit of using cloud storage and not local storage which is prone to drive failures and data loss. I've never lost a file since using it.

Important question. What was the total storage of your laptop? Then why is the only 3GB available when you went to storage.
How big is the chromeOS flex download file
And how much space does Chrome Os take after installing on windows

I'm against continuing to give power to Google, but I liked the video, really good.

Lol, you said "Ok Google!" and my faithful mobile instantly activated it 😂

Sounds like the perfect tool to make a media hub PC and connect it to a TV. If it can stream to screens it would be even better. I'm deffinetely eager to try after this vid.

So is the main difference between Flex and Chrome OS that Flex better supports wider hardware? That is a bit of a game changer and a new direction for Google, especially given the lack of support on older hardware by Windows 11!

What about device drivers? Can I use my scanners and webcams on it?

This might be a stupid question, I'm going to ask it anyway:
Can you use it as a copying machine while travelling? I'd like a simple solution for backing up photos from SD cards on journeys and don't want to bring my productivity laptop or Macbook along.

So just for reading a SD card and copying to an external SSD... any thoughts?

Great video. Tons of information with no fluff. Thank you. So many videos are filled with random talk and not enough facts. Thanks.

Personally I am a Linux user for years yeah with some tweaks here and there I can make it run faster than this chrome os thing if not same but it will be better software support wise and all

I heard steam will support chrome OS, so this can be an ultimate os for old laptops, faster than windows, more simple than most linux distribution, and can play old/indie games/VNs, also cloud gaming are more and more a thing.

If you trust google.

Been using it for work - school administration - for a month now, makes Windows 11 (on a 1 yr old laptop) look absolute junk, the speed difference is amazing, Chrome OS Flex is so much faster and simpler. Running it from a USB stick. I knew Windows was clunky but until Flex I didn't realize how clunky.

I’ve just installed Flex on a Mac Mini from 2014 and it seems to function well enough, but I haven’t found how to automatically boot to Chrome OS. Now I have to press the Option Key during the startup sequence and then choose the right drive, which is strange since the installation should wipe everything else.

I have an idea. Is it possible to install Wine with apt in Linux environment and then run .exe with Wine Windows Environment?

Did you use the built in screen recorder to make the video?

Absence of the Play Store in Chrome OS Flex is a BIG disadvantage.

Thanks for this super helpful video. However I am at a dead end. After installing the Chrome OS Flex, it is not able to populate available Wi-Fi networks. I have tried manually entering SSID and Password but doesn’t work. Therefore I cannot move ahead with setting up or conducting any operation. I’ve checked that the Wifi chipset in my HP laptop is not in the unsupported list mentioned by Google. Please suggest a workaround or other ways I can tackle this issue. Will be of great help!
