Works even perfect on an older PC with a Intel core 2 quad q8300 4gb ddr2, feels like a new PC and even YouTube is possible at 1080p without stuttering.

Dude I love the new intro.

Also I like ChromeOS Flex. Not something that fits my personal needs, but it's good for folk who aren't technical.

What is needed is android app access. That opens the gates pretty hard.

Just here to express my thanks for this guide, I was able to revive an older Lenovo Thinkpad x240 - It had windows 10 but really sluggish... I was debating just installing an SSD to speed things up a little, but this has actually made it usable. I'll hold off on the SSD for now! Thanks again!

This is really handy for people who just want a light OS for web browsing (I believe the term they coined is "Web Ready"). its too bad that the play store isn't supported at the moment, that's a pretty big drawback.

Sadly ChromeOS without Android and Play support is a no go for me

Everytime I hear about a Chrome or Android version for old PCs I look over and remember I have two old laptops I don't use any more just sitting here like oversized coasters and hope that it's going to be something mature enough that I can actually use to make them usable machines. This might be what I've been waiting for.

Thanks for the heads up and tutorial ETA. I just tried this on a Dell Latitude 3150 with 4GB Ram, Intel HD Graphics, 7200rpm HD (10ish year old school district special) and everything seems to be working fine, was able to Enterprise Enroll it. Boot time took 58 seconds from shutdown to login screen VS 18 Seconds for a brand new Samsung Chromebook. I guess its something, could save a few bucks and give some life to these old computers as long as expectations arent too great.

I've been using it for a while now with no issues whatsoever, you can also enable and install Linux apps into it.

Really wish ChromeOS Flex support Android Apps like regular ChromeOS, that would be a boon for plenty of older PCs

The problem with ChromeOS Flex, is that google removed Play Store. I've installed it on a REALLY old laptop (pentium dualcore, from core 2 duo era, I think) it doesn't have virtualization so I can't use Linux Mode. Without play store and Linux Mode, this system is useless.

You really do a good job with your videos, you’re like an expert car mechanic but in computers & electronics

Curious on how this would load/run on a Chromebook? Say one of those that has been abandoned by Google as being not supported.

I'd still get a lightweight Linux OS over this one. Nice advancement on the Chrome OS front though.

I will try this for my schools 14 years old hardwares. I hope it will work on core 2 duo e5400 or p4 2.66ghz lol.

One i like about google is that they make full versions of their operating systems fully downloadable. God forbid apple do that, and Microsoft gives you a gimped version of windows 11. It’s nice to see a corporation the size of google do that. And i wish this level of openness was everywhere in the company, not just their operating systems. But hey, its nice to see a huge company, even though this has literally been linux for years.

This is nice and all and I understand that Chrome OS may be a good choice for casual users but for me personally, I don't really see the appeal. Why not just use one of the many fantastic Linux distros instead?

I always thought google should have put this out like this from the start.

Question for you experts.. I have a wired printer on my windows laptop. If i install Flex to make it faster, will my printer print directly from Flex afterwards, thanks

Without play store its a bit no for me... better go with Linux + anbox. It takes more effort to set up but it works even on my 2008 core 2duo CPU.
