Today we look at screen casting in Linux and the various tools that are around, and what Gnome is trying to do. Also, how we do we capture screens in Linux? Is that possible or doable?

I really like this as I could use this at work to cast from my desktop to our main TV with a Google Chromecast, as I currently use my Nokia T20 Android tablet to do it, or only in my Chrome browser on my desktop that has some jank, but I tried to installed GNOME Network Displays on Manjaro GNOME from the AUR, as that's where add/remove software shows it at, and it aborted the install on a required dependency that's already installed, and I have no idea how to get it to work, so I guess I'll just wait for it to be added to the official repos in future update so I don't break my system lol.

06:16 i am browsing and trying to install the miracle cast via the git repo as i am watching here . this needs update . while i use gnome network display to cast my laptop screen to my miracast enabled tv i think due to weak hardware or me using only wifi direct ( with out wifi ) to cast its latency is okayish . and the virtual monitor option in gnome network displays does not seem to work . its go to see some developement going on there .

As a Linux user I am a laughing stock when I am looking for an HDMI cable in a meeting.

I really would like to be able to scream cast my laptop that is running Linux to the TV even with a Roku or a on firestick or even Chromecast it will be very nice if I could do that because you never know when you will need it to do something like that and I wish that Linux would have the display Network already enabled

I've used Gnome Network Displays for a few months now. I find the Flatpak works better. It seems to have more functions running on Wayland rather than X. In KDE I can use it as a seperate monitor (not mirroring the device screen) but the mouse lag is annoying and almost unusable. I use drivers for AMD also and have no idea if it would work on Nvidia.

0.3.77 is newer than 0.3.8 I believe, cause 77 is bigger than 8

Wormhole Travel is how they did that. So Python 3.80 is available on the other end... Lol
I have casting on my android phone to my TV but you have to have a internet connection. I can not play a local movie that is on my phone to my TV that I can find. There again it could be me... Lol My internet was down 5 days when I tried it. Could not cast from my browser to the TV either, it wanted the internet to work... 😥

Speaking of screencasts still in development, anyone know if the Odysee screencast feature is operational or not? Can't seem to find anything about it on Odysee or YouTube, despite the button showing up on Odysee (both app & browser)

I have ideas how you can REALLY advance your channel by a few very simple but very important alterations. I see you have potential and are very knowledgeable. Unless you make these changes your channel will tend to stagnate.

Gnome, Flatpack, repository, Git, all this gibberish...no wonder 99% of people use WIndows.

It's terribly finicky and only works with one out of 10 TVs out there, and when it works it's very unstable. Miraclecast deserves the name, it's a miracle if it works smoothly for over 10 minutes.
