Watch the last few seconds of a footage in this report and you can really see how Tesla Cybertruck's rear wheels turn and steer.

"Rear Wheel Steering (RWS) is definitely needed on a big vehicle like this, especially if you want to drive in more compact areas like cities," writes Sawyer Merritt on Twitter.

Cybertruck demonstrated its rear wheel steering features while it was moving around Giga Texas at the Cyber Rodeo grand opening event. A video of the vehicle, shot by the Cybertruck Owners Club group’s member @sandeepdegala, was shared online, and while it was very brief, one could easily see the Cybetruck’s rear wheels moving. The slow speed of the vehicle while it was using its rear wheel steering feature hints at some advantages the function could give when parking or maneuvering in tight spaces.

Elon Musk first announced the Cybertruck's rear-wheel steering feature last year on Twitter.

Many cars and a few trucks have offered rear wheel steering over the years. In performance cars it allows for better body control and improved handling, as well as a tighter turning circle. For big trucks like the GMC Hummer and Cybertruck tighter turning is probably the biggest benefit that most people will see, although (like the crab-walk) it will offer better off-road, rock crawling flexibility. One annoying thing about giant trucks is simply that they often need several Y turns, blocking an intersection or road because they have such a wide turning circle. So this rear wheel steering feature should help out there.

I knew a guy with a Nissan 300 several years ago that had that too he said you could take corners much faster with it

If it does have 4WS, then it would get disabled once it reaches a target speed, then gets reactivated after another target speed is reached, this time the wheels would go opposite they did on slow speed and use this to assist in vehicle handling.

I saw video of lucid air using rear steering turning on the width of an american road.

Rear wheel steering is dangerous on high speed but can be extremely practical in low speed and tight spaces

Anyone who has driven a large ford super duty pickup knows how terrible the turning radius is.

It's been a tough two years to get anything done that's a massive project like cyber truck. From the pandemic and it's chip shortages and supply chain breakdown to the war in Ukraine things have been a mess. It's hard in normal times to predict the future. With the things going on its impossible to know all the surprises in store. It's going to be wait and see. I know Elon and Tesla have shown they can handle impossible problems better than most but much of the delay has been events that we have only limited control over. It's a time will tell moment in history.
