The first time I drove a Honda Prelude with 4 Wheels Steering (4WS) I was certain it was going to be standard on every car within a few years. It was a game changer. But, it never caught on. I guess it is one of those things you just have to drive it to get it. Maybe that is why it failed to catch on.

I assume Tesla as designed this in a simular way, where at lower speeds the wheels steer in the opposite direction like what is being shown here. This allows tight turns. Then at higher speeds the front and rear steer in the same direction, where the car does not have to "twist" it just moves left or right while staying parallel to the road. This prevents fishtailing very effectivly!

That straight up looks like something from a movie. Can't wait to see these on the road

At Mercedes you can get rear steering for different models, for a long time. It comes in a package with an air pressured suspension. That package costs just $3.000 - $6.000, as an extra, depending on the model..

The suspension does seem to be set to a really low setting and it looks pretty awesome.

I watched twice, and I didn’t see the rear wheels do anything abnormal

It does look like the wheels had 6 "spokes" instead of the current 7

I'm pretty sure that is electronically controlled, meaning with software you can inverse the stearing and crab walk

Honda 4-wheel-steering (4WS) up to 2001. Adds acquisition/maintenance cost to little/modest benefit. Should be an option to keep vehicle at a decent price.

I was just thinking... There's no way this prototype has an actual exoframe given all of the ripples in the metal and separate segments of the body. Seems more like a proof is concept on a "normal" frame with body panels slapped on

Its funny cause it doesn't turn any tighter than a regular 2 wheel steering truck.
