I still have an original cassette version of Tomita's Planets, bought before the Holst Estate took out an injunction banning it for years. It and subsequent Tomita vinyl were my gateway into classical music. I love the way he constructed a narrative around the original movements, and I like the addition of Itokawa and Hayabusa. That 'voice' in Venus does sound really odd, as if someone is singing along!

I've heard the original album and loved that, this is excellent for a new adaptation of the Gustav Holst piece, and stull very spacey as the original album was in the seventies. When it comes to electronic space music Tomita is the best.

I bought this album when it was first out. On the fold of the cover it stated" this record pressed in coral pink vinyl" . I evven peaked past the shrinkwrap and saw that it was! Not so; regular black vinyl! Spewky!
