Top Three (3) Grafting Methods | Year-Round Options

Cleft Grafting: Deciduous Trees such as Prunus (Peaches, Plums, Apricots, Almonds, Cherries, Nectarines, Cherries), Apples, Pomegranates, etc, should be grafted after the last chance of frost has passed, but before the buds on your scions begin to swell or 'pop' into blooms & shoots. However, topicals such as citrus, avocados & mangos graft better in early spring (or early fall is an option too).

Approach Grafting & Piggyback Grafting: Any plant/ trees year round! However, recommended best time is during the growing seasons of Spring, Summer & early Fall. The goal is to get the grafts to heal and grow well together during the active growing season-- so, the sooner you accomplish success in the growing season, the sooner the plants will recover.

For those who do not know, there are many things I LOVE about plants; however, GRAFTING is my #1 favorite thing! I've been practicing many grafting techniques since I was 12 years old, and in this lesson I share my top three (3) grafting techniques to help make this one of your most enjoyable growing seasons as well! Happy Gardening! Charles 🌻

I learned about grafting from both my grandmother's. One did it with her roses. And my other one did fruit trees. I personally haven't tried to graft anything. But now I have limited space for a garden. Grafting popped into my head. I'm grateful you are sharing your experiences with grafting. I'm now excited to get the garden going.😊Thank you ❤

Thank you, sire. You make botany procreation/plant sex very interesting. Plant grafting has come a LONG way. Evidently we gardeners/orchardists have lost many of the techniques of propagating our favorite fruits and nuts. In the 60's, grafting was intangible, let alone risky, to most orchid owners. Your techniques are simple like child's play. As always, with the proper tools, farming is, at best, tedious. Thank you again, fair sire.

Can you graft a pomelo scion onto a pink grapefruit tree rootstock using electrical tape? Wow I learn something new - Fishing string? What about dental floss? Thank you for zoom in to show the detail. In the past year, I fail in all grafting technique. Looks easy but I fail in all bc I did not know about the cambium need to match exactly. Smart ideas using the paper towel to keep it moist. I was worry thinking the fishing string will kill or cut through the scion. Amazing, This is the best detail & simple grafting technique on YTube channel and very educational. Thank you !

Thank you sir for the very important clear explanation of the Cambium layer and its contact matching of it between the scion and rootstock .This is the first video in grating after so many videos that I've seen which satisfies my understanding of Cambium layer contact particularly lwith this mismatch of the scion and rootstock diameter you've grafted and it's explanation for success by the correct contacts you have shown.- Rajesh Moses ( South India )

💡IDEA:
What if you just used a DRILL and made a hole AT AND ANGLE along the cambium for the the cutting to slip into?
(Less open area & no securing)

My father is wanting to graft some 9f my apple trees up north in Pennsylvania. There are multiple old trees on the property and 10 new trees that are about 8 yrs old. I myself have just planted some orange trees in my backyard in orlando fl an plan to graft some different varieties to them in the near future. I do have a question about shock that may have occurred during planting of the orange trees. Do I trim off branches that have lost there leaves or wait to see if they come back? 1 week planted and the base at graft are roughly 1 inch
