I will never forget the anger I felt with Planet Fitness when they stonewalled my effort to cancel, charging me for another month I didn't want. I later learned they violated my California rights to cancel by phone. Truly terrible company on every level. I will celebrate the day they finally go down.

Lina Khan! She's awesome, especially compared to her predecessors. I hope she stays in that position. I'm always expecting corrupt people in high positions in government agencies, so Khan is a breath of fresh air.

Don’t ever subscribe to anything using your account and banks routing number. During pandemic twenty four hours fitness was giving me the run around about canceling my membership, putting me on hold forever. I hung up the phone, called my bank, canceled my card and received another one. 24 hour fitness stills emails me!! Hahaha

I had a hell of a time canceling my Planet Fitness about five years ago. It was ridiculous!! I ended up changing my back account number.

This has been a thing in the EU for years, just new to US. Though getting this kind of thing passed in corporate America must have been tough! Lina Khan fighting the good fight!

Always, always, ALWAYS look up cancelation policies BEFORE you sign up to a new subscription services. If they make it impossible to cancel, you know that the product isn't good enough to keep people around on it's own and they're hoping to become a forgotten line on your bank statement

Easiest way for the consumer to cancel with the current available options is to report the card they used as lost or stolen.

It’s going to hurt their bottom line if it’s made simple with one click. I know it took me days and lots of time just to unsubscribe from a channel’s 30 day trial. I was so annoyed by how difficult it was.

I agree with Ms. Khan! I just had the hardest time canceling my $90 gym membership. They said I was month to month and after 9 months I had had enough with this gym. I would also have to pay a penalty for something. The gym was insanely hot. Supposedly a problem with the central AC. But it was uncomfortable before I even worked out! Then the equipment was old and rusty. Eww! The best thing about the gym was the shower room with the steam room and jacuzzi with a towel service. When I went to cancel they told me I had signed a yearly membership. Not true. And did I mention I had to give a 60 day notice?!?! I ended up setting an alarm on my calendar to cancel again. I made a trip to the facility, had to wait on a recruit rep. Pled my case to the standards of the gym. He checked out my gripes. Then gave me a card to call. The call turned into an email session and a waiting game. Then a knock down for my request and then having to pay another basically 3 months. Now I want to turn in my cable equipment. I don’t watch cable, my kids really don’t either and I like the basic Tv channels that are free with rabbit ears. These subscriptions are out of hand.

People forget it's the government's responsibility to protect consumers from predatory business practices. The government isn't supposed to coddle corporations so they can squeeze every last dime out of their customers.

Everyone go email your reps and senators NOW and voice your support for Lina Khan! We must protect her from the capitalists trying to oust her!!!
