Do Homeowners Really Need to Get Their Furnace Inspected?

Does your furnace need to be inspected every year? Is it really necessary to get an annual tune up done? In this video I tackle this subject and try to look at it from multiple angles. In summary, I conclude that for most people a furnace inspection is a good idea but it doesn't have to be done yearly. An occasional safety check may prevent a dangerous situation when it comes to any gas or propane appliances.

co alarms don't trip at lower than 70ppm unless it's been like 30 years with low levels - they don't provide protection against chronic low level exposure and are not a sub for inspections and co checks with meters that read anything above 0.

If its new new my opinion is to get it inspected less at first but more as it ages.

Most brands will not honor their warranties without annual inspections during the warranty period.

Like the jokes 😂. Need some advice my home has a forced air system TRANE XE80, and I have a NEST thermostat with it, my question is what should i install to get my lower level to heat up, its always cold, my thermostat is upstairs so when heat rises and heats up stairs it shuts off understandably, should i put the thermostat downstairs if possible install duct dampers or is there a waybto have two thermostats two zones not sure if that would work it would more than likely get real toasty upstairs, or insulate the crawl space more than it already is. any advice you can give would be great, thanks

I always wondered why cooking on a stove all day for Thanksgiving was okay and no one ever worries about CO gases. Both gas stove and furnace run on natural gas and both have a blue flame. Why is the stove safer when it comes to carbon monoxide gas?

Hi Jay:
Glad to see you still out there. Heating season is upon us again and the most important video you ever posted is the furnace sequence of operation. I’ve already committed it to memory but for those who haven’t, perhaps a repost would be a good idea. Keep ‘em coming Jay 👍👍👍👍😂
