Karl Marx's Capital Volume 1
Part 7 - The Process of Accumulation of Capital
Chapter 23 - Simple Reproduction

This video is a look at Chapter 23 of Marx's Capital, Simple Reproduction. Marx begins by examining the reproduction of capitalism as a total mode of production. In this chapter he starts by looking at a process of reproduction where surplus-value is not reinvested back into production, but instead consumed completely by the capitalist class. We see how, even with this simple reproduction, all capital eventually becomes accumulated, how labourers become alienated from the product of their labour via the money-wage, and how the cycle of production constantly recreates the conditions that allow it to reproduce itself. Marx also further examines the productive and unproductive consumption of the workers and how the working class are reproduced.
