I saw this movie when I was 19. I was idealistic, stupid and naive. I was not on her side.
Now that Im 55, have raised 3 kids and have been married for 34 years. I get her character 100% and im not on his side at all.

The irony in all of this is that a lot of women have to deal with abusive partners who claim to say that oh they deserve rights to their their children but they're secretly abusing their partners to the point where they have to leave that's the truth in all of this it's ironic that he would play a movie about a grieving father trying to take care of his son ya fuking right he was abusive that's why she left

Can you imagine Robert De Niro or Al Pacino doing such a viscous and cruel thing to their costar? I can't. Pacino may be a complete weirdo in his private life, per Johnny Depp, but I think he respects other actors too much to even think of such a thing. Hoffman has a massive ego for such a tiny man.
