One of the main points to be considered here is that a lot of these players/legends are saying that Ronaldo should win this or that year best player. Now really few people will say that Ronaldo is the best footballer of all time. That's not the same for Messi. He is considered by a lot of people (objectibly) the best player in football history. And, for me, they are right. Now that he´s won world cup and possibly 8 Ballon D'Or, discussion is over. He is the goat. Maybe forever.

Listen to him, both are the goats of football (or strikers i should say, it would be unfair to compare them to midfielders, and even more for defenders or GKs)

Most of those guys who picked Ronaldo did so either because they played with or coached him or they are fellow Portuguese. The difference is that Messi, Pele and Maradona not only scored goals but they had exceptional dribbling and passing which is something that Cristiano Ronaldo is poor at. Ronaldo is simply an exceptional goal scorer. Beginning and end of story.
