Always helps to get home for a rest. I find the same thing where I spend too much time on the road, but then I also spend too much time back at home. Seems like being on the road and being at home both charge and drain my batteries in different ways.

Give the truck a tune-up Mav!!! Get new spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, make sure that engine stays running right

The wheel shake will probably go away with a tire rotate. Once the tires have time to wear in a different way in a different position.
You are likely due for a tune up, plugs, fuel filter and air filtrr, and may as well toss in a cabin filter too. That'll keep your truck happy for a while and will make it start and run better. Could also need an ignition coil causing the misfire. Its a very common problem with the triton engines. A full set of 8 will last you another 150k, and then you won't have to wonder when the next one will die. All cheap in terms of making your truck feel like new again. Way cheaper than a new vehicle and will give you peace of mind.

Mav has had his Forest Gump moment, “I’m pretty tired, think I’ll go home now”
Hahaha

Started watching about a year ago. Im from Ireland and although it is small it has a lot of beautiful places to camp. I camp now as much as I can. I sold my car and bought a van, bought what I needed and now I get out in nature and see different places. Ive always put it off, so thanks for the inspiration. It gives me great peace and makes me appreciate the little things more. Thanks Mav. Keep on truckin!

Mav on the road:
“I must cook a decadent 25 course meal on the side of the road”
Mav at home:
“ cup noodle it is!”

Love you bro!

What a sweet waitress. Always love seeing the way Mav interacts with people along his travels. One of my favorite parts of road tripping is meeting all different sorts of good folks across the US.

No need to just throw parts at the truck! Start with the basics. PLUS It will be fun to learn about engine diagnosis and you'll get to know your truck better and become more confident in thinking through little mechanical issues during your trips).

-Does the engine light code tell you which cylinder(s) are missing?
-Rough at idle or cruising? (you mentioned low rpm so I assume idle)
-Do you hear any hissing in the engine bay? (vacuum leak), those vacuum hose have been through many-a-heat cycles
-If code tells you which cylinder(s) are misfiring, swap a coils with a cylinder that isn't misfiring to try to move the miss
-Same as above with spark plugs (swap them) if swapping coils doesn't move the misfire
-READ YOUR PLUGS (do they all look consistent or does one or a few of them look different?)
-Never assume injectors are fine (could be leaky injectors, leaking down pressure overnight, etc) (you can flow test injectors!)
-Whens the last time you did some injector cleaner (BG44K is the best) and changed your fuel filter?
-Do a smoke test! Find any vacuum leaks!
-Clean that MAF and replace your air filter while you're in there, if you haven't recently
-If none of the above tells you anything, might be worth doing a quick compression test and making sure she is healthy
-Carbon buildup on valves can be an issue with these as well, solution would be cleaning valves with walnut-shell blasting

Don't keep driving with a misfire, get it solved to keep that motor healthy. Depending on the last time you did plugs, might be worth just swapping them with properly gapped new ones when you take them out to read them. Get Motorcraft OE plugs if you replace them!

I generally like to do cheap and easy tests to really see whats going on before throwing parts at a machine. For example, the truck might run perfect when you replace those plugs, but if some other issue is causing that miss (plugs are getting sutted up or washed down), then your misfire will come back in time and you will have just burned through new, totally fine parts. Just my $0.02. Good luck with the troubleshooting, feel free to reach out and I'll run you through some easy tests you can do at home and make a little testing process/list with instructions for you. I think the truck just needs some basic diagnosis and love, she's been a reliable machine and laid down some serious miles in the last few years. It will be super rewarding when you get her running right with minimal $ spent and know that all of your systems are functioning as they should.

Man going on a trip is fun but I think an underrated feeling is going home after a long trip. My jeep has been giving me problems. It's kinda nice seeing I'm not the only one struggling with their vehicle. Comments keep saying Mav needs tune up, I think my jeep needs the same thing

is anyone else having lip sync problems with this video or is it just me??? do you mav!!! your amazing. everyone gets a little home sick once in a while. get home and build up your mental strength and health and get back out there buddy!!! oh and as for that missfire, start by changing your plugs, wires, and if all else fails then swap out each coil till you find the culprit. cause those babies are close too 100 a piece and there are 8 lol

Always impressed with the way you communicate with people. I’ve watched your channel for a couple years now and have always been impressed at how good you are at connecting with those you meet along the way, making sure to get their name and making every interaction memorable. Keep it up and never change Mav!

The best part of the trip was the waitress. She was so sweet.

as a mechanic, those trucks with misfire issues are pretty simple. have them figure out which cylinder it is, and then check the plug. they normally run pretty well.

I grew up in Two Harbors and live in Duluth. It's so cool seeing my home on a popular YouTube channel. I love driving in and seeing the view of the lake. It never gets old. Welcome back! :)
