The HIDDEN Stat Buffs of Breath of the Wild EXPLAINED!!

preview_player

Breath of the Wild contains a wide variety of different stat boosting gear and equipment that the player can utilize on their adventure...but the game isn't exactly clear on the specifics of how these buffs function!! With no in-game descriptions or stats to display about these buffs, players for the longest time could only really rely on personal assumptions to figure out how these buffs work. So, after some extensive in-game research, I decided to encode ALL of the hidden properties of these buffs so I can share my findings with everyone - which should be VERY helpful for improving your knowledge on this game!! Anyways, I hope you all enjoy!! :)

You forgot one thing. Staying in the shadows in the desert counts as a heat resistance buff. So using magnesis to carry a large crate to create shade is a valid but inefficient method

Next up, I think you should cover the weapon modifiers that have a chance of being on gear, such as "Durability Up/Up +, Critical Hit, Quick Shot (etc.)"

Something you missed:
The 'charge attack stamina up' set bonus of the royal guard set does not only ruduces your stamina usage of charged weapon attacks, but also the stamina, used to jump while climbing and the boost when you are swimming. :)

15:41 except the Lynel on ploymus mountain, even with max stealth level, the Lynel can still detect you even when NOT sprinting, extremely sensitive to sound (even when you crouch and tilt the stick far enough). Other Lynels can only hear you if you are sprinting with this stealth.

That lynel is programmed differently than all other lynels in other locations (even if them are red-maned), during gameplay, I noticed other differences:

-Touching the lynel from the back does not immediately cause the lynel to know your presence, he has to face at you in order to know that. All other lynels however will immediately detect you

-He does not roar while they roam their territory, other Lynels roar periodically as they wander their territory.

-Without any disguise mask (wearing a Lynel mask or Majora's mask), this lynel, upon spotting you will immediately start attacking, all other Lynels will stare you down for 30 seconds before attack anyways. There is an obvious reason for this: so that the player MUST be stealthy if they don't want to fight the lynel and obtain the shock arrows, 30 seconds is way too lenient time for the player to get as many as they can.

If you feel like mocking a guardian or having revenge, break it’s legs and bring a bunch of branches. Weapon breakage is a guaranteed crit, not just throwing so a bunch of branches stun locks them while you beat up ancient technology with a stick

You should make a playlist on your channel called something like "everything you need to know about botw but don't" so that people can find these great videos in one handy place!!

There is one more hidden armor effect: Tingle's clothes startle NPCs

This is very informative and all but why did that guardian jump in 11:35 like that

Last night I did another several hours of research to calculate all enemy constants for the four main enemies. I was hoping that there would be a pattern between the constant and the color of the enemy, but of course not. Oh well...

Here’s the formula again:
Damage=4(hearts lost)+(defense-enemy constant)

And here’s a table with all the enemy constants:

Bokoblin Moblin Lizalfos Lynel

Basic 0 2 4 15

Blue 4 10 8 20

Black 8 20 16 26

Silver 24 24 20 30

Golden 48 48 40 60

Here’s another example:
Link goes up against a blue lizalfos wearing 9 defense. He gets hit and loses 4.5 hearts.

Damage=4(4.5)+(9-8)
Damage=18+1
Damage=19

Yay math!

I hope this chart is helpful and if anyone needs it, you can take a picture of it and use it for yourself!

Thanks for your time (again) Croton! ❤️
Keep up the great work!

Just finished my Master Mode playthrough were I routinely slapped on the barbarian set and then a triple attack up meal for tough enemies.

Well then.

Congrats on the subs!

I have seen a metric ton of zelda videos. There is one thing I have never seen you might have fun researching.

The rag doll physics link endures. What is the trigger point for it, like how much damage/ what type will cause you to rag doll and when you do, under what conditions will you continue rolling down a hill. Like.. how steep, that sort of thing.

No one's done that yet to my knowledge!

Great video! Just wanted to share a couple of things you missed.

Majora's Mask works like all the masks that Kilton sells in one. Bokonlins, Moblins, Lizalfos, and all their Stal equivalents won't attack you unless provoked. You'll also delay a Lynel attack by about 30 seconds.

The Royal Guard's set give you more stamina while doing a charged attack, dashing while swimming, and jumping while climbing.

The diamond circlet isn't the only one with the mini-ancient proficiency buff. The ruby circlet, sapphire circlet, and Midna's Helm all give the same boost. The amber and topaz earrings might also have the effect, but I can't remember off-hand.

16:07 The royal guard's set also has hidden stats. It only says charge attack stamina up, however, it also has a swimming dash and climbing jump stamina saving affect applied to it. That's why I always go for it right at the start of every new file.

Btw, staying in water in the dessert counts as a permanent heat buff, and it gives you like a minute before it runs out.

I’ve done my share of research for the game too.
I decided to write mathematical formulas to determine the amount of damage and enemy’s’ weapon does without having to kill it (I only did it for the golden ones though).

Each one of the four basic enemies (bokoblins, moblins, lizalfos, and lynels) has a constant value that subtracts from link’s defense. If link’s defense is higher than the constant, the enemy will deal less damage than the damage of its weapon and vice versa.

Here’s the general formula for enemy weapon damage:
4(hearts lost with one hit)+(link’s defense-constant)

Here’s a list of the golden enemy constants:
Bokoblin/Moblin: 48
Lizalfos: 40
Lynel: 60

Here’s an scenario showing how to plug everything in:

Link goes up against a lynel wearing armor with 48 defense. Link then gets hit once and loses 23.75 hearts. Now he can calculate the damage of the weapon without needing to kill the lynel first!
Damage=4(23.75)+(48-60)
Damage=95-12
Damage=83

Wow! That was a lot of words! I hope this makes sense to you and maybe you can do a video talking about the damage of other types of enemies!

Thanks for reading this ❤️
