Sexual function is dependent upon the foods that we eat. Dr. med. Dr. phil. Stefan Buntrock, urologist from Göttingen, explains on UroChannel the impact of the right diet. The mediterranean diet has evolved as the most successfull dietary pattern for a healthy lifestyle with positive results on erectile function and fertility. A low calorie diet low on saturated fat will likewise contribute to sexual health improvement. Research has shown that cardiovascular disease and sexual functionality share the same modifiable risk factors. Eating the right food in the right amount is not only good for the heart but also for the penis. Nutrional medicine is an evolving field as food has a strong influence on the development of diseases and overall well-being and health.

It definitely possible to change it. You have to stick with it and build new habits.

I find your content to be very informative and meaningful. As a 'westerner' born and living in the US, I can attest to your assessment that it would be extremely difficult to change my eating habits at my age of 58. I am of German decent and was raised eating mostly meat and potatoes. It is unfortunate that as children we are subjected to only the foods which our parents feed us. I found it interesting that 'good' diets arose from simply the food available to the people in that region at that time. There are so many things which are beyond our control, especially when we are very young.

Thank you for this info. What confuses me is the praise about the Mediterranean diet all over YouTube. I live there half of the time, and I see: pastas, pizza, lots of salamis, goat cheese, wine, and yes, also a little bit of fresh fish and vegetables. Isn’t the Mediterranean diet a bit overrated? But glad someone makes a good link between sexual health and nutrition. By the way, I never see whole grains in this area. Everybody is eating those long white breads. Which are delicious by the way.
