How I Make 50k+As a Self Employed Massage Therapist Working 10-15 Hours a Week (Be Your Own Boss!)

In this video, I will outline a basic business plan and my personal story of how I built a Concierge Massage Therapy Business that has lasted 6+ years, making 50k a year or more, while only working around 10-15 hours a week.

It is possible, and it is very important that MTs have a strategy for how to move forward in business before burning out.

The burnout rate for MTs is 50-88% in the first 3 years.

Don't be part of those who quit because you are overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated.

This is a job that is supposed to be part time, so you have time for other things in life.

Here is the secret to success as a MT.

28 year full time massage therapist here. We all know how important selfcare is. I've done everything under the sun for this.
The game changer for me at least. Was gymnastics rings training 💪🏻.

I work alone in my studio these days. Used to average 28hr weeks. Now I average 20hr a week. Started at $95/hr. Now at $185/hr. I've done massage programs in 5 different countries around the world. Lots of techniques in the tool bag helps attract a diverse clientele. Ive created and practice 2 of my own styles of massage. One involves mat work with silks. The other is an aerial table that uses gravity to release tension in the body.

Keep it real and make it fun!

I appreciate this video so much as someone stepping into the field specializing in functional bodywork and cranial sacral therapy. Been trying to determine what my game plan is to become self employed and this video was fantastic and inspiring! You have wonderful energy, thank you so much

There are many things to consider before starting to tell your clients that you’re working on your own thing. Please remember not all clients are safe people to be in private quarters with. Do not fall in love with your clients before they have proven to you that they can be trusted.

Happy to see this now after doing it 3 years full time currently pulling 30hrs for a spa in 4 days and unable to do much on my days off. Absolutely not sustainable. I am determined to shift to 100% self employment and much less hours

You remind me a lot of my fellow LMT and biz owner friend Michael Ortiz. I've done it all: day spas, self employment, resort spas, mobile, festivals. Def gotta hang out where your clients hang out.

Also: print a QR code that goes to your link in bio, website, or booking page on a tee shirt so when you're out shopping etc people can scan it. ❤

Good smart guy.. I love common-sense advice from a real person with no condescension. I always say build relationships & people remember you. Don’t forget your God given purpose you were created for. Serve people as He suggested will make a joyful successful life. Face failures with strength & learn and move on to next client to gain.. Guarantee it works!

Thank you so much for this vital message!! I am only 1 year in forna spa and mobile massage. Once i get a van to transport my equipment i can make more and work less. Youre right i need to foam roll and do my cupping more and get a routine of self care. Im a very strong therapist and want to diversify and also do notary work that isn't physical. Love your content, im subbed now. ❤

Can you tell me about stretch and mobility because that’s what I want to specialize in, thank you

But when I worked in the spa (and got injured from seeing so many clients), there was no time to give aftercare advice because you're booked back to back and have to somehow find time to clean the room and change towels in-between. Love your advice though.

Yes i do this very part time. Thanks very good recommendations. I don't want more frankly. This came up on my feed. I wondered as a male do you have mostly female clients. Lot of guys don't want another guy. What i don't like is that people think the wrong things about other things in a massage. But i like doing this
Not completely certified. Its a great side gig. Thanks

hey .. I went selfemployed 2019...then covid hit...I made it through covid...after covid we have now world wide financial crisis...this time I notice it much more that people dont come anymore.... Do u have any tipps on how to get more visble or more recomandations ? I know I am a good therapist..I know Massage, Osteopathy, Chiropractic and fascia work..so my expertise is quiet good but I cant grow for some reason because people keep saying no my friend dont do this, ,,or they go to therapist whre they get refunds and so on...

I’d be able to take you more seriously if you were not driving.
