I appreciate him saying "could mean" because a lot of the time things show up and go away. They could be caused by other things

it is weird how the most weird looking tongues are actually alright while the normal looking ones are some diseases and infections lol

The correct ifm - hairy tongue is a warning to stop smoking or vaping..they usually go away if you stop. Also another warning is this thing where white stuff is on the sides of your tongue.. I just learned thjs In health!

It's weird, cause in my case geographic tongue appeared in my early teens and it was quite painful (like with cuts), especially while eating sour food, so I went to the doctor to check if it's anything to worry about. They did some tests, which in the end showed nothing, and yeah they just said it was geographic tongue, that it's normal for some people and they couldn't do anything about it, so I was left with painful tounge. Years later I did some food allergy tests, cause I had raising problems with acne, and it turned out I have an egg allergy relapse. And here it's getting interesting, because after I stopped eating eggs, in like two weeks or so my tounge was clear. Now, when I eat something with eggs it comes back in 3-4 days and stays as long as I eat eggs. So, I dunno, maybe it's correlation, but I'm just happy that I found (probably) the cause and can live with painless tounge hah good vid btw

Also, if your tongue is white, it could be plaque/food debris/bacteria buildup and can be fixed by scraping the tongue and brushing your teeth more often.

My friends were scared of my fissured/geographic tongue in elementary school. I've been really self conscious about it :/

My little sister had kawasaki and they refused to give her the treatment because of some sort of shortage in our country that year and the doctor treating my sister noticed that they were going to give the treatment to an older man in the same hospital and he fought the board to give that treatment to my 3 year old sister. He was a good man and an amazing doctor

Some people really need to invest in a tongue scraper

I have a geographic tongue :D Mom legit took me to the doctor when she saw/realized.

It's more prominent in the morning, and there is clear texture/elevation differences between sections.

Could be unrelated but I doubt it, I'm also sensitive to tastes. I can taste the differences between different types of water. Too much citrus typically causes an allergic looking type of reaction where the veins on my touge stick out and hurt.

I have fissured tongue and all other people who I know have as well can't tolerate spicy food or lollipops
I've learnt how to deal with lollipops by not holding them in the same place for long and about the spicy food I like the burning sensation

Your dentist should give you an exam of your mouth (ie. oral examination) at least once a year. The dentist will grab your tongue with gauze to check it. Then check your teeth, gums and surrounding tissue taking note of any unusual findings. Make sure your dentist is doing this! Oral examinations can help detect any underlying illnesses in the body so you can get preventative treatment if needed.

~ love from your friendly neighbourhood dental assistant ❤ ~
