No one cares about us. We are the other half that keep the hospital running, but we aren’t compensated fairly for out work because “we working in healthcare is rewarding enough.” If I were to suggest cutting the pay of medical staff by half to represent housekeepers though, everyone would go insane. It’s funny how I along with tens of thousands of other housekeepers in America are given the title “hero” but we aren’t compensated, treated, or praised like one. Yet we bite our tongues and keep doing what we can to help save another life.
