Starter tournament has changed, I think. Speed gear is for everyone who hits 1K points - so progression. The top prizes are a blue shard for first, 75 gems for second, and I forget what is for third.

Tip 1: Do not install
Tip 2: Just in case, have your bank block any transactions related to Raid!
Tip 3: If you failed, do drugs instead or both. It's over.

Disagree with the gem mine first. You'll be able to progress more doing masteries first + I feel like the new player experience you get more gems then you use to.

I just started a referral alt, and I think it's better to buy your first set of masteries before you go for the gem mine. Makes it so much easier to push in the early game and get to brutal 9-3 where you can start leveling your first 6 star and farming warmaiden dupes. You don't miss out on a lot of gem income in the extra week or two it'll take to get the gem mine up and running, but you get an insane amount of power putting masteries on kael right away.

I actually did 2 sets of masteries before gem mine because I picked up an elhain. Been able to 3 star everything up to second last stage of brutal campaign. I'm up to the arbiter mission to get silver in arena. I've finished most of the artifact and dungeon challenges up to the last tier or two, and I've unlocked advanced missions already, all within 4 days of gaming. Needless to say I won the novice tournament by almost double the points due to how strong kael pushes in dungeons with masteries. Am also on a 1.5m normal clan boss per key already with kael / elhain / mother superior / warpriest / delver, but got a fayne from sacred 2x and i'm gonna get her in there asap.

Gem mine is a total waste until you've decided if you are going to keep playing the game after 2-3 months. You'll get much more value using them to mastery your first champ or two. You easily get 2500-3000 gems your first month or two just from focusing Missions and Challenges.

Biggest tip too is do not pull shards without a 2x event. Save the hell out of them.
