1980 Detroit you say, I worked in the engine test department at Detroit Diesel that year as an engine test operator. Department 328, testing 53 series engines. Might be one I tested. Thanks for your videos,

Rescue, all too often people in their zeal to "clean up" throw away valuable items without a second thought, you sir are a forward thinker that realizes everything has value, I relate 100%, it's always a treat when your biggest critics come crawling to you for that special part you rescued.

I’m glad you rescued it! Turbo trunk pistons, and a pair of turbos would make a nice 6V53T!!! Cheers!

6v53 had poor reliability record in on the road vehicles the weak link blower quills
several revisions evolved
