ADI Part 3 - Lesson Planning - In-depth analysis

The PDI delivers the first 5 minutes of a driving lesson.
We'll do an in-depth analysis of the lesson plan and ask ourselves "is this the right lesson for the pupil?"
If we get the lesson plan wrong for the pupil, we can expect to fail the ADI Part 3 exam.

Meet Howard
---
Howard Floyd has been teaching people how to drive since 2009. He is a DVSA Grade 'A' ADI, holds the Cardington Special Advanced Test (Grade A), RosPA Advanced Test (Gold) and is a registered ORDIT trainer. Howard lives in Norwich (UK) with his family.

I really enjoyed watching this video - as it highlighted how easy it is to trip up by trying to solve things that aren't really necessary - and miss things that can help the pupil develop by simply encouraging them to think the answer through rather than 'tell'. I also use Lou Walsh's WAIT process and it's really powerful when used correctly and timely. Thanks Howard

I’m a ADI who re qualified about 3 years ago. I truly love my job and I consider myself very lucky to be able to do it. My pass rate is reasonable, however I know there will be a standards check looming any day now. I’m really worried about it, I feel I’ve never been 100% clear in what the DVSA are looking for. Could you give me any tips or advice?

Very helpful Howard. A little confused about the information given on proactive. So in the meeting situation had Tam not been proactive and as a result the pupil just carried on, then wouldn’t Tam have been blamed for not being proactive and letting serious faults occur?

Hi Howard, just wanted some advice. I am sitting my part 3 in Feb, my theory runs out 1 week later, if unsuccessful can a sit a third attempt after my theory expires provided I book the test before theory runs out?
