The Panasonic Lumix GH2 Compared to the Lumix G3

A point by point comparison of the Panasonic Lumix G3 and GH2 Micro Four Third System Cameras.
Someone has pointed out that I don't mention the multi-aspect sensor of the GH2. I didn't forget, I just don't find it of any value to me.
With hindsight, I probably should have mentioned it at least.

I just picked up a mint g3 with 14-42 zoom lens, plus lumix bag, charger, shoulder strap and even an sd card for £45.
I'm mightily impressed so far coming from a lumix compact tz70.
For me a camera has to be small but feature packed and give quality results.
The tz70 does everything I need a camera to do but I like the ability of changing the lens etc

Excellent overview as usual David. I had this a few years ago but got a terrible case of pixel envy and decided I simply must have FF quality. I did indeed get wonderful quality with the Sony a99 but as time went by the prospect of lugging around a heavy, bulky camera + lenses became less & less appealing so I missed a lot of photo ops because the camera was on the shelf collecting dust rather than taking pictures. So now I'm back to the wonderful, underappreciated, tiny, light G3 that's with me all the time + 2 primes and never miss a great shot. As I stopped obsessing about image quality the quality of my images went up and I've never enjoyed photography more.

Came back to M43. Never thought I would. I checked all my favourite shots my Flickr account and most of them were done on my m43 equipment even though I had access to a variety of camera systems in Canon, Nikon, Sony and Fuji I keep coming back to M43. It has something like photo magic that goes beyond the mere specs of the cameras. Somehow even using manual focus though there is no focus peaking etc at least of these older models (not sure about the newer ones, ) it is easy and unhurried. I was also glad to re-see David's videos. This was a big part of my original motive getting into M43. I will add the m43 to my existing kit and re evaluate it and rationalize it.

Cool review man, but I gotta let you know that the gh2 can be set up via the menu options to toggle the viewing screens by button only as well. The face sensor thingy was pissing me off too so I had to set mine to toggle button only. :/

Excellent review - either the G3 or the GH2 in NZ will work for me. With the GH2 at $NZ 2, 099 I get a single lens kit, whereas the G3 in NZ is only $1, 400 for a twin lens, so maybe I'll get the G3 - looks as though it's a budget friendly 720p equivalent of the GH2.

I'm between the devil and the deep blue sea. Manually changing it annoys me...but so does the switching when I don't want it. In the end, the unwanted switching annoys me less than the manual switching.
No pleasing me, really. What I want is eye recognition, so the camera can tell whether it is my hand blocking the sensor or my eye coming up. Like I say, no pleasing me.
