Reasons to buy:
1) price
2) light-weight
3) multi-aspect sensor (gain about 1-2mm on every lens)
4) great for live streaming (I run mine upwards of 6 hours a week without a single fail)
5) unique colors (who cares about 10-bit when it's great out of the box)
6) limitations (now you can focus on your content, not gear). Get it done with less. Honestly, if you have a paid project, just rent the latest and greatest. The GH2 will definitely suffice for any family needs.

Have been working fine in Finnish winter, and you can get new bodies from Ebay for cheap, so dropping isn't really an issue. And almost all my lenses have stabilisation, so they work just fine. Though now prices for 4k Lumixes has come down, so there might be reason to buy them instead.

is it good for taking photos?? I have a clothing brand and want to shoot my own photos but I don't want to start out with an expensive camera just yet

The camera still works well for my use case, though I can't figure out how to make it do clean HDMI out.

I use a tiny tripod with my Lumix GH2. I set it up anywhere, on car hoods, cafe tables, sidewalk curbs, etc., but never hand-held. This simple solution does not need stabilizers, etc. I use the "hacked" GH2 because its image fidelity is better than my 4k action cam. It and the GH1 were the first hybrid cameras and they were made sort of future-proof. The GH2 can be set to very high bitrates that are equivalent to 6K. If micro-card manufacturers come out with a faster SDHC card (it won't read SDXC cards), the GH2 will probably support bitrates equivalent to 8k.

just a quick tip for GH2 owners, the G85 uses the same lenses and batteries but fixes most of these complaints, even IBIS and the DFD focus. Good drop in replacement if you want to keep your same lenses and accessories and upgrade the body. G85 is few years old now but much more modern than GH2

The frame rates for 1080p goes up to 24 fps only? I thought there's 30 fps

All those are the reasons you can get this for $100-200 and a good one to get without breaking the bank and learning photography and filming

The GH2 with a 14mm 2.5 and the FlowMotion Hack in 25p is still a great gimbal camera!

If you plan to drop your camera, you’ll better get off your hands from cameras. I never dropped on in over 40 years using cameras.

And yes the GH 2 is old. but your much older😜

Of cause, I would prefer something like my GH 6 if it‘s weight is around 500grams including the lens.😜

But until then…

For 1080 I can live with what my old Panny baby delivers.

Especially if i upscale that footage with Topaz. Hard to differ from my GH5s material.
