Expired or Expiring PGWP holders will be able to apply for a new open work permit valid for 18months from 27th January 2021.
Official announcements will be coming on Friday with a launch of a temporary policy that allows international students with an expired or expiring PGWP to apply for a new WP which will be valid for 18 months.
This is incredible news and a huge relief for 1000s of applicants who have been affected due to the pandemic lockdown and business closures.

What about the PGWP holders who left Canada last year before the PGWP expiry? The extension news was released on Jan 7, 2021. No way they could foresee this to stay back!

Question: I graduated in 2015 and received PGWP; was expired in 2018 and I got a new study permit in 2019. can I still apply again for PGWP even I am on a study permit?

My PGWP expires June 16 2021. As I understand I can apply from February 16 2021 to June 16 2021 any day. Is this correct? Thank you so much. I Just got confused with phrase "PGWP that expires in 4 months or less from the date they apply"

It is strange, basically this only helps people who got work permit in 2018 but the real people who are struggling are the ones who got in 2019 or 2020. 2018 people had no issues but people who are actually stuck in between is 2019 and 2020 as their work permit is in between the whole pendamic that started in 2020. So people of 2019 are neither here or there.

My PGWP expires on sep 7th 2021. If I'm applying for this open work permit on July 1st 2021, am I eligible to apply?. Hi Sir, I just would like to ask since Canada issued a new rule for international students with expiring pgwp after January 2021 which I am included. Can I decline the LMIA given by my employer so that I am not oblige to apply a closed work permit? Then instead of fsw stream in EE, with 467 crs pts minus 50 pts because I wont be declaring my valid job offer and my score will become 417 pts but after 1 year canadian work experi3nce on june 2021 my crs score will become 508 which is applicable for ee draw under cec.
