Literally the first Star Wars movie he put out had Princess Leia shitting on her captors and then taking over her own rescue and saving them. She and her daughter both were shot-calling senators/queens respectively in their teenage years. People are willfully ignorant. That's why they willingly ate up the corporate slop characters who had no real personalities, history or character development in the Disney sequels.

Lucas' father wanted him to run the family business while Lucas initially tried to be a professional race car driver and, after an accident made him incapable of doing that, went into film instead. After the original Star Wars came out his father apologised for trying to hold him back.

Part of the original gag in A New Hope was how quickly she takes charge of the situation the moment she's been rescued. She immediately starts critiquing their escape plan, and begins leading them. She almost immediately makes a decision that saves their skin by blasting open a vent that they can get out through. Nevermind the fact that she is able to resist the torture and didn't give up the rebel base. People see Leia's inclusion in the story as a princess who need saving and don't think past that. It's a trope that helps to call back to those classic adventure stories, but Leia herself is a twist on what you'd expect. She isn't just some damsel. She's a total subversion on what you'd expect a damsel to be. And she was a good friend.

Leia is a more badass female character than any new woman disney has put into star wars since they acquired it. The intelligence officer and mother in Andor are the best theyve done and Andor is an anomoly so far.

He should have never sold it.

It should have been protected as one of the best science fiction stories we ever produced as a species. I think fans now have the responsibility to be very clear about where the cut-off is for ACTUAL star wars canon. Disney doesn't deserve to say what's canon and what's not because clearly they didn't have the best intentions with the franchise, they pretty much made it about politics which is really frustrating.

At 69 years old. He has priorities. And he deserved to rest after great original movies and prequels.

The force Awakens earned 2+ billion dollars, Rise of the Skywalker 1+ billion and the last jedi also 1+ billion.
