Disney has failed terribly with STAR WARS and has yet to recoup its investment in the purchase of Lucasfilm. Disney Lucasfilm should have respected and listened to the creator George Lucas.

Discussions relating to the possibility of The Walt Disney Company signing a distribution deal with Lucasfilm officially began in May 2011, after George Lucas's meeting with the then Disney CEO Bob Iger during the inauguration of the Star Tours – The Adventures Continue attraction.

Lucas told Iger he was considering retirement and planned to sell the company and the STAR WARS and Indiana Jones franchises.

On October 30, 2012, Disney announced a deal to acquire Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, with approximately half in cash and half in shares of Disney stock.

George.. After all these years, please please know, that we love you and we miss you. We miss YOUR Star Wars. You created it and without you, Star Wars wouldn’t exist. You knew EXACTLY what you were doing. You had a vision and you wanted to tell a story, you did that perfectly.. And collectively, as fans we will always respect, love and appreciate you for that and the world you introduced us to and how you’ve changed and influenced our lives.
And on behalf of the fandom, seeing now where and how Disney and the current Lucasfilm staff have bastardised the franchise.. I am truly sorry for the way the fanbase treated you, the actors and response to your STAR WARS movies. And I think I can safely speak for everyone, in saying how much we truly want you back at the helm.

You are and will always be the godfather of STAR WARS. It will ALWAYS be YOUR baby. Regardless of whoever owns the rights.
